CELEBRATE WORLD TAPAS DAY 2017 WITH SPANISH TOURIST OFFICE! THURS 15 JUNE
Tapas is the leading exportable dining concept to come out of Spain and today, these renowned small Spanish dishes are celebrated and enjoyed by foodies across the globe.
The increasing popularity of tapas isn’t only about delicious Spanish food, but also about ‘tasting the moment’; sharing and enjoying food and time with family and friends.
Falling on Thursday 15th June, the third annual World Tapas Day is a day dedicated to celebrating tapas and Spanish culture.
This year, however, the Spanish Tourist Office is celebrating for a whole week! Please join us and feast your way to World Tapas Day and beyond…
Spanish Tapas Tour
The Spanish Tourist Office (STO) will be helping Londoners and visitors to the capital to savour Spain in London with a seven day Tapas Tour extravaganza.
In partnership with the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and 18 Spanish restaurants based in London, the Spanish Tapas Tour Week will run from Monday 12th to Sunday 18th June, with participating restaurants offering an exclusive tapa-and-drink offer for only £7.50. Each restaurant will offer a different Tapa throughout the week-long promotion, including a glass of wine, beer or soft drink.
Wait; it gets better…! All participants on the Spanish Tapas Tour have the chance to enter a prize draw to win a trip for two to the Andalusian tapas capital of Granada or a hamper of traditional Spanish products. To be in with a chance to win, customers will simply need to present a specially designed ‘Tapas Tour Passport’, available at any of the participating restaurants, or downloadable here.
Taste of London
The foodie fun doesn’t end with the Spanish Tapas Tour; celebrations will also be taking place at this summer’s Taste of London Festival, running alongside the Tapas Tour event, from 14-18 June. Visitors to Spain’s stand (A6) will have the opportunity to taste some of the best Basque flavours, enjoying complementary ‘Pintxos’; (tapas of Northern Spain) with a glass of Txakoli (white wine from the Basque region).
Basque Country by Ibérica (in partnership with Ibérica restaurants) will showcase the best food and wines from the Basque Country to celebrate World Tapas Day throughout the Taste of London festival. With the highest concentration Michelin-starred restaurants in the world, Spain’s Basque Country is a foodie’s heaven.
Visitors to the Spanish Tourist Office stand will also be treated to cookery demonstrations by renowned chefs from the Miniature Pintxos Congress and Ibérica Restaurants.
And for another chance to win whether you visit Taste of London, join the Tapas Tour or not, the Spanish Tourist Office is offering a prize draw of a sumptuous dinner for two at any of Ibérica’s restaurants across the UK worth up to £150. All you need to do to enter is upload your Spanish tapas or pintxos pictures on Twitter or Instagram, using the hashtag #TapasDay.
