Ridley Scott starts casting for “Exodus” in Spain

Ridley Scott’s next Hollywood film, Exodus, is to be based in Almeria, with filming taking place at locations across Spain, Morocco and the UK.

The new film, which focuses on the biblical story of Moses and the Jewish exodus to the Promised Land, is due to be released in December 2014.

Casting for extras took place in Almeria last week and attracted thousands of hopefuls looking to secure a place on the silver screen. Christian Bale has already been announced as the lead role of Moses, while rumours are spreading as to whether or not Joel Edgerton will play Ramses. There isn’t long before final decisions will be made however, as filming is due to start in October.

The British director is said to be extremely fond on Almeria and felt it would be the perfect setting for his new film. Large parts of the filming will take place in Almeria’s Sierra Alhamilla and the Cabo de Gatas Natural Park.

Ridley Scott’s other most famous films include Ghost, Thelma and Louise, Blade Runner, Gladiator and American Gangster.
