This year’s Pueblos Mágicos span across various regions:

• Andalucía: Arjona (Jaén), Arjonilla (Jaén), Bujalance (Córdoba), La Palma del Condado (Huelva), Tabernas (Almería), Arriate (Málaga), Gaucín (Málaga)
• Región de Murcia: Mula
• Extremadura (Badajoz): Zalamea de la Serena
• Castilla‑La Mancha (Toledo): La Puebla de Montalbán
• Asturias: Navia, Coaña
• Cantabria: Alfoz de Lloredo, Miengo, Reocín
• Islas Canarias: Arona (Tenerife), Vallehermoso (La Gomera)
• Islas Baleares: Ferreries (Menorca)
• País Vasco (Álava): Elburgo (El Burgo)

Each of these places embodies the essence of a Pueblo Mágico whether it’s a stone-built street in Aliaga, or a fortress and olive landscapes in Bujalance. A UNESCO-listed tamborada in Mula or volcanic terrain in Vallehermoso, these towns are all well-lived and share community pride.

These 22 towns now form a richer, more diverse network, connecting historic plazas, local workshops, intimate traditions and coastal seascapes. Together they deepen Spain’s invitation to travel off-the-beaten-track in 2026 in places that truly welcome their heritage.

The EES border check system is the responsibility of the Spanish National Police, the body in charge of border control.

The European Commission has determined that EES will be operational on Sunday, 12^th October 2025 and has set a 180‑day implementation period. The use of EES in Spain will be rolled out progressively from this date.

Spain´s inaugural EES check will take place with the arrival of a flight landing at Madrid-Barajas-Adolfo Suárez airport early in the morning.

"As the leading destination for UK travellers, we understand that the introduction of the EU’s Entry/Exit System (EES) on 12th October 2025 may raise questions and concerns.

This phased implementation, set to be fully operational by 10th April 2026, is designed to modernise border management through biometric registration, enhancing both security and efficiency.

We are committed to keeping our valued UK visitors informed and ensuring a smooth transition. Spain’s tourism sector is in close collaboration with the Spanish government and AENA, and we will provide timely updates as new information becomes available.”
