The Spanish Tourist Office has launched a new training platform for travel agents. The course aptly called the Spain Specialist Programme (SSP) features 11 modules, transporting agents on a journey through Spain from Andalucía in the south, to the Basque Country in the north, as well as featuring the Balearics and Canary Island archipelagos.

Featuring essential information for anyone looking to sell a holiday to Spain, ‘Spain Specialists’ has been designed to educate and inspire with the objective of providing all the necessary tools for travel agents to book their clients’ next Spanish holiday.

Targeted at agents that have an interest in Spain as a holiday destination, the 11 modules are each followed by a short questionnaire whereby on completion of all modules, agents will be rewarded with a Spain Specialist advanced certificate. Agents who complete the course will also have the chance of being awarded a position at the Spain Specialist Programme (SSP) Summit which takes place in Madrid, as well as receive updates and invitations to events hosted by the Spanish Tourist Office. Agencies that complete the programme will also appear on the official tourism board website www.spain.info in the list of agencies specialising in Spain and will earn the right to use the “Specialist on Spain” logo on promotional materials.

Javier Piñanes, director of the Spanish Tourist Office in London says, “Spain has a long and successful relationship with travel agents who have played a huge part in Spain’s tourism success story. Our statistics show that nearly 40% of holidays booked from the UK to Spain are booked via a travel agent and we hope that this training course will be a helpful tool for our agent partners and will showcase some new and unique holiday options.”
