Final check-out paves the way for urban renewal in Calvià

The former Hotel Teix in Magaluf and Hostal Colón in Peguera have now been demolished as part of Calvià’s ongoing drive to regenerate mature tourism areas and create new public spaces for residents and visitors.

The demolition works, funded largely through Next Generation EU resources, represent a combined investment of more than €6 million. Both properties had been closed for years and had fallen into significant disrepair, making their removal a priority within the municipality’s strategy to modernise the urban landscape.

The cleared plots will be transformed into new public areas designed to enhance the look, accessibility, and overall quality of two of Calvià’s most prominent destinations. Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual has highlighted the project as an important step in reclaiming neglected spaces and advancing a more sustainable, resident-focused model of development.

This step also complements a wider programme of improvements across the municipality, including the second phase of the Magaluf Promenade revamp, set for inauguration in June 2026, and the renovation of the infamous Magaluf strip, formerly known as Punta Ballena and Calle Blanc. Supported by Next Generation EU and Sustainable Tourism Tax funding, these projects sit within the broader “Magaluf for All” campaign designed to position the destination as a high-quality, accessible, and sustainable, tourism destination.
