Galicia showcases gastronomy for Autumn

Every autumn Galicia gives visitors a chance to eat like locals.

Every autumn Galicia gives visitors a chance to eat like locals.

From September 14 to December 16 in Galicia more than 130 casas rurales – rural houses - celebrate the Gastronomic Autumn. This year is the sixth foodie celebration and is designed to showcase the best fresh ingredients and dishes in the region.

The casas rurales – a host of farmhouses and country estates - put on meals, including starters, main courses, desserts, Galician wine and coffees for €30 during the time period, allowing tourists to experience traditional cooking.

Guests can also choose to stay at the casas rurales after their meal, bed and breakfast costs from €110 for a double room and €70 for a single.

Dishes include regional specialities like pig’s ear, salad with grilled Mosteiro cheese and dried fruit dressing, followed
by chestnut and mushroom rice and vanilla mousse with cranberries and hot chocolate sauce.
