Spain’s capital has been chosen to host the world’s largest and most prestigious gay event, outbidding Berlin and Sydney.

More than 80 international delegates voted unanimously for Madrid, which has already hosted Euro Pride in 2007.
The decision was made after a presentation by Madrid’s Office of Tourism and the Association of Entrepreneurs and Professionals for Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transgender Madrid (AEGAL).

It will be preceded by the 2014 event in Toronto, Canada, and followed by a New York parade in 2019, to mark 50 years since the Stonewall Movement to fight for gay rights.
