RENEWABLE ENERGY AT PARADORES FOR WORLD EARTH DAY

World Earth Day, on the April 22, will be celebrating the theme of “Our Power, Our Planet”, focusing on renewable energy as the key to addressing climate change and building a more sustainable future. Reflecting this, Paradores - Spain’s state-owned hotel group, is driving a new era of sustainable hospitality, blending heritage with environmental leadership. 

Since 2019, all 97 Paradors have been powered entirely by 100% renewable electricity, thanks to a landmark agreement with Endesa. This milestone marked the start of a broader strategy to reduce the chain’s environmental impact while leading by example as a state-owned company. In addition to green electricity, Paradores is incorporating biomass, solar panels, and exploring geothermal energy at sites such as Cádiz and Tenerife. 

Now in 2025, Paradores has taken another major step by launching 147 electric vehicle charging stations at 27 of its Paradors, as part of a wider €4 million rollout that will see 342 chargers installed across 80 locations by the end of the year. All chargers operate with 100% renewable energy, making it easier for guests to travel sustainably.  

This means that Paradores now operates the most extensive electric vehicle charging network in the Spanish hotel industry. “This initiative improves our services while reinforcing our belief in a tourism model that’s both high-quality and environmentally conscious,” said Paradores president Raquel Sánchez. The charging network is a central piece of the network’s 2025 to 2028 Sustainability Plan, which sets a target of carbon neutrality by 2030.
