Spanish capital celebrates travel industry with FITUR

Fitur Madrid

Madrid is set to celebrate travel and tourism at the end of this month with the 33rd annual International Tourism and Trade Fair FITUR.

Running from January 30 to February 3 at the Feria de Madrid, it will welcome tour operators, travel agencies, Spanish and foreign organisations and the travel trade.

It is expected to be a good year, particularly with promising figures from the 2012 event indicating an upward trend in visitor numbers. Last year a total of 167 countries and regions took part as well as 9,506 exhibiting companies and more than 63,000 trade visitors.

Key events planned for this year will include the fourth FiturGreen programme, with workshops and case studies on funding models for energy efficiency and the management of sustainability in the tourism industry.

There will also be the seventh FiturTech section, which will show professionals how to adapt their products to cater for the needs of new travellers.
