SPANISH WALKFEST HEADS TO HERTFORDSHIRE FOR TWO DAY EVENT

‘A taste of Spain & her islands’

Ramblers Worldwide Holidays, the experts in guided walking adventures across the globe, has teamed up with the Spanish Tourist Office to offer a two day Spanish extravaganza in the picturesque village of Lemsford, Hertfordshire on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June.

The two day festival aptly named ‘A taste of Spain & her islands’ offers a feast of Spanish cuisine, especially designed by Spanish restaurant group Ibérica, followed by a selection of wonderful guided walks through the rolling Hertfordshire countryside.

Guests will enjoy a tasty menu of tapas showcasing the diverse flavours of Spain including authentic Spanish tortilla, tapa de chorizo, mini bruschetta of jamón iberico with manchego salad, garden vegetable paella and creamy Spanish rice pudding. To accompany, wines will include Campo Nuevo white and Finca Constancia red.

Following the Spanish feast, guests will be able to walk off the calories in the beautiful countryside surrounding the Old Water Mill at Lemsford.  Guided walks will include a four mile trail through the rolling Hertfordshire countryside passing various points of great historical interest, including Brockett Hall, Jacobean House in Waterend Lane and Ayot St Peter.

Ramblers Worldwide Holidays offers a wide range of walking holidays to Spain and her islands with carefully crafted itineraries developed to showcase the very best of the destination. New for 2014 is a six day walking tour to Barcelona, one of Spain’s most vibrant, cultural and eccentric cities with highlights including the architectural wonders of Antoni Gaudí, the narrow streets of the Barri Gòtic, the city’s bustling Las Ramblas and the wonderful Benedictine Monestir de Montserrat, founded in 1025.

Las Islas Pitiusas is another new tour for 2014 offering a one week journey around the unexpected and hidden delights of Ibiza. With rugged cliffs, sheltered coves and countryside trails, guests will enjoy a mix of coastal and rural walks with plenty of swimming opportunities combined with the warm hospitality of the local Ibicencos.

Other tours of note include the 12 day ‘Camino de Santiago’, following the historical pilgrim’s route between León and Santiago de Compostela, the seven day ‘Walking in Competa’, including the little-known whitewashed town of Competa and the surrounding network of footpaths, and the seven day ‘Winter sunshine on a Miniature Continent’ exploring the hidden depths of the volcanic island of Gran Canaria.

For those interested in travelling to Spain, representatives from the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Catalonia, Andalucía and Murcia will be on hand to provide information and inspiration.

The event takes place at the Ramblers headquarters in Lemsford from 10am to 5pm on 28 and 29 June. Tickets cost £6.50 per person including food, wine, parking and a guided walk.  For more information or to book, please visit ‘Spain & her Islands’ or call 0808 178 2879.
