Where to see the Total Solar Eclipse in Spain in 2026
On 12 August 2026, Spain will host one of the most remarkable astronomical events of the century: a total solar eclipse. For a few minutes, the moon will completely cover the sun, plunging parts of the country into daytime darkness. This will be the first total solar eclipse visible from mainland Spain in over 120 years, making it an extraordinary once in a lifetime opportunity for many.
The path of totality will cross a wide stretch of northern Spain, passing through cities such as A Coruña, Oviedo, Bilbao, Zaragoza, and Valencia, before reaching the Balearic Islands. Observers in these regions will experience up to nearly two minutes of totality, while places just outside the path, including Madrid and Barcelona, will see a deep partial eclipse.
