BARCELONA SET TO WELCOME FIRST EVER EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO SALVADOR DALI'S MUSE: GALA

From 5th July to 14th October 2018, the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya in Barcelona, will welcome the first ever exhibition dedicated to Gala, also known as Catalonian artist Salvador Dali’s wife and muse.

The exhibition, organised by the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya and the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dali, will explore the life and work of Gala, who camouflaged herself as a muse while forging her own path as a 20th century avant-garde artist and reveal how she played a key role in Dali’s artistic development.

‘Gala Dali (Muse, artist and a key figure of twentieth-century art)’, will feature over 180 personal items such as letters, postcards and objects, which retrace Gala’s story, unveil her complex character and reveal the nature of her relationship with the world-famous artist.

The exhibition will also include over 60 pieces of art from Salvador Dali’s collection including oil paintings and drawings, as well as a selection of drawings, paintings and photographs by other 20th century artists who pertained to the surrealist universe such as Max Ernst, Picasso, Man Ray, Cecil Beaton and Brassai.

Throughout the exhibition Gala is presented a key figure of the vanguards and a heroine of the post-modernism movement who was admired by many artists including René Char, René Crevel, and Max Ernst.
